Hilde joined the crowds streaming down Dachauerstrasse to the train station. They shouted revolutionary slogans such as "down with the war!", "long live the revolution!" and "down with the Wittelsbachs!" As she reached the train station, the area was full of people waving red flags.

Are these trains bringing revolutionaries from across Germany?

Meanwhile, revolutionaries were making plans at the Mathaeser beer hall. It was burned in the counter-revolutionary violence in April 1919 and is a cinema today.

Hilde headed to the military barracks on Tuerkenstrasse. Today, only the gate of the barracks remains but when Hilde arrived the soldiers had fought against their superior officers and the street was filled with broken furniture.

Hilde was exhausted by the time she got home but it was not the end of her revolutionary activity. In January 1919 she was arrested for distributing revolutionary flyers and spent a few weeks in prison. When the Soviet Republic was declared, she became the secretary.
