Ingrid Sharp, Corinne Painter and Bent Architect visited sites associated with the Kiel Uprising in 1918. From the docks in Kiel to the submarines in Wilhelmshaven, the group explored the origins of the revolution and examined possible places to stage their forthcoming play “Women of Aktion”. This project highlights women's role in the German revolution of 1918, with a particular focus on Kiel as the starting point of this key historical event. The revolution was triggered by sailors in Wilhelmshaven refusing to obey orders and participate in a mission that would have most likely led to their deaths. The sailors were imprisoned in Kiel which led to widespread protests in the community and demonstrations for peace.

The group were excited to learn about the commemoration activities planned for Kiel in Autumn 2018.
